With a selection of top players from around the world this event once again looks set
to be a spectacular showcase of high-caliber table tennis.
Guo Yan is the notable absentee from the list, as current champion she was eligible for
automatic selection; however, China have instead opted to enter the current world number
one, LI Xiaoxia.
The tournament is set to be played in Toa Payoh Sports Hall, Singapore from the 28-30

Selection Criteria
The participants will consist of the current holder of the World Cup, the World Champion,
the Continental Champion or the strongest current player from each of the six continents,
one player from the host Association, the top eight players from the World Ranking List
and two 'wild card' selections.
This year Japan were offered an additional 'wild card' entry as part of the continued
effort to support Japanese elite sport following the devastating events earlier this year.
However, following Park Mi Young's withdrawal, due to injury, the 'wild card' allocation
is back to two as this 'wild card will not be directly replaced.
